Introduction:
Leaving Earth to find new homes in space is an old dream of humanity, and will sooner or have been necessary for our survival.
Venus's Atmosphere:
97 percent c 02, 90 times denser than Earth's atmosphere, and standing on Venus's surface would feel like taking a dive about 900 meters deep into the ocean.
Terraforming Venus:
A project that would take a few generations to complete and be a huge challenge, but could create a second habitable
planet.
Removing Venus's Atmosphere:
Options include using giant solar collectors to heat up the atmosphere and blast it into space, or sequestering the atmosphere by binding c 02 into different compounds through chemical reactions.
Creating a Mirror:
Constructing a huge mirror to blot out the sun and cool down Venus, allowing the c 02 to turn into liquid and rain down.
Freezing Venus:
After several decades, the atmosphere cools down and the c 02 turns to liquid, resulting in a constant global rainstorm lasting 30 years and eventually freezing Venus's surface.
Dealing with Frozen c 02:
Options include covering it with insulation and ground up Venus rock or water oceans, or shooting it out into space and collecting it into a small moon for storage and future use.
Transporting Water from Europa:
Cutting chunks of ice off Europa with construction drones and shooting them at Venus using mass drivers.
Using Space Tethers:
Space tethers can be used to catapult ice from Europa to Venus and catch c 02 ice shot up from below, making the process more efficient.
Lowering Atmospheric Pressure:
Excess nitrogen can be removed using the same method, resulting in a shallow frozen ocean on Venus's surface.
