Design Changes

• New iPhone SE will take cues from iPhone 14

• Design changes include:

  • Small notch

  • Flat sides

  • No home button

• Face ID will be included

  • Face ID has been available on flagship models

  • Face ID has been around for 6 years

• New iPhone SE will have a 6.1 inch OLED display

  • 33% larger than the current SE's 4.7 inch LCD panel

  • Delivers pure blacks with a 2,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio

  • Current SE has a contrast ratio of 1400 to 1

  • Expected to have 800 nits of brightness

  • OLED display could be always on

• New USB-C port at the bottom

  • Replaces the lightning connector

  • Lightning connector has been around since iPhone 5 (11 years ago)

Internal Changes

• New iPhone SE will have a more powerful processor

• New Apple-designed 5G modem

  • Benefits for users are unclear

  • Reduces dependency on Qualcomm

  • Saves money on the component over time

Action Button

• New iPhone SE will have an action button

• Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra

• Replaces the current silent switch

• Allows users to customize the button's action

• Can serve as a shortcut for various functions:

  • Camera

  • Flashlight

  • Magnifier

  • Translate app

  • Voice memos

  • Focus mode

  • Silent mode

  • And more

Chapter 2: iPhone SE

• The iPhone SE is expected to have only one camera lens

• Other models have double and triple lens setups

• The gen 4 iPhone SE is expected to be introduced in 2024 or early 2025

• The retail price of the gen 4 iPhone SE is expected to be $429
